Last weekend

Last weekend was a fun one! My mom's birthday weekend started off on Friday with a surprise birthday party (which ended up not being a surprise... long story).
She wanted the band to play, and Andy was able to reunite with them for the evening! (My dad is on the drums; completely hidden)
Annika with the birthday girl. See Annika's bare feet and wet pants? Whenever someone wasn't watching her for a moment, she'd get into the water feature.

Getting a front row seat! Moving her chair from the crowd, up the ramp, to RIGHT in front of the band.

She is such a busy girl.

Down for a moment, and then off again...
Alexa was well cared for the whole night... love these girls!
First Sunday at church!
Then Sunday, the birthday girl wanted to take Annika to the zoo in Peoria!
I was quite impressed- it was definitely better than I remembered it, and the addition of Africa was pretty great.

Annika loved it. Her favorite thing, though, was the meerkat exhibit. One was running back and forth, over and over. She followed it back and forth, back and forth... giggling the whole time. I'm pretty sure Grandpa got it on video, so if it turns out, I'll share. :)

Sisters

It seems Annika likes her sister most of the time. She's just not getting the "gentle" part.

Coming in for kisses

And a few of just Alexa:
Out on the town: this was Alexa's first visit to Chevy's. Yummy!
More to come soon!

Before and After and a little in between...

Beware... there's going to be a few more posts, as I have time now to get a little caught up!

On July 1st, I had my regular doctor appointment... and after that I was going to run to Roanoke to pick up the minivan we had purchased the day before.

God had other plans. :)

The doctor ordered an induction, so off we went to the hospital.

So here is my before picture (pregnant and with my beloved PT- so many memories!):

I got hooked up about 5:00 pm, and was actually already having contractions. They started Pitocin, and a few hours later I asked for my epidural, then an HOUR later the anesthesiologist arrived. About an hour after that, the epidural took effect where I needed it. I was complete at that point, so a few pushes later, Alexa Grace arrived at 10:07pm!

On 7/3, the pediatrician put her under the bililights because she had tested Coombs positive, and her levels were really high.
She was under the lights except for feeding time and diaper changes, and those times we kept the biliblanket on her. It made the times we did get to hold her much more precious!
On 7/4, we were told she'd stay at least another day. It was an emotional day (combine new mom hormones with that bad news and the news of a friend's loss of her father- I was a wreck), but I was thankful at least that I was able to stay with her.
On 7/5, we got the okay to go home! How exciting. And Alexa finally got to wear clothes!

And the after picture:
arriving home (oh, it is so good to be home!) with a new baby and new van.

More Pictures

Mommy here this time with more pictures...
It's all pretty surreal so far! Daddy and one of his favorite girls
Clearly Annika does not quite get that her world is going to be completely different. :)
(Hanging out watching a movie in our hospital room.) We get to stay at least an extra day in the hospital because of jaundice.
It is SO sad to want to love on her and not be able to!
